Display driver set to 4bit color depth and 640x480 after RemoteDesktop Session

I have done some research on Google and found that this has been

posted since 2002, but I can't find a resolution. I am hoping someone

has some ideas on how to resolve this.

 

After connecting to an XP Pro machine via Remote Desktop, the local

display is set to 640x480 and 4 bit color. I have the NVIDIA drivers

installed, and have downloaded the latest version.

 

If I remove the NVIDIA drivers, the display reverts to 800x600 and

4bit color after a remote desktop session.

 

The only way to fix the resolution is to reboot, as all display

settings are greyed out after a terminal server session.

 

I can reconnect in, while the local display is still showing the low

res colors, and my remote desktop session shows the correct resolution

and colors.

 

Any ideas?
