asrock H55M-GE R2 NO LIFE HELP !

I built this PC yesterday, I have built a few before, it was up and running in a few hours with windows 7 64 BIT installed wireless dongal connected had updated window,G/C card software, ect.

I then installed the software from asrock,(which to be honest didnt seem to do much i tried it out then turned pc off ,the PC was working fine restarting shutting down sleeping etc yesterday.

I went to move it from the build area to my sons room and before moving it I tested and at first it would not come on, then it came on I just thought I hit wrong button or main power wasn't turned on, once it was moved again, I could not get it to start at all there is life to PSU but the PC power button is not doing nothing, I checked the 9 pin header connection all was ok and in right position as stated on manual but this was a bit confusing even though i am not a novice and there are 3 cables HDD LED, POWER SW,RESET SW, but as mentioned it was working fine, restarting sleeping all buttons did what they was supposed to do yesterday.

UPDATE I tested the psu by shorting out black n green pins, the psu kicks in so that seems ok.

Thought it may be faulty power button on the case but tried a jumper on 9 pin ps header nothing happens fan on psu dont kick in, Best I got was a faint flickering light on the case hdd

Im at a real loss with this any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

At this stage, considering it worked till moved, I suspect there may be a short circuit to the case.

This could be a screw or washer under the mother board or even a spacer not in correct position, I would remove the mother board first to check that.

While out of the case, place the motherboard on some cardboard or even newspaper to make sure it doesn't short to anything, reconnect everything and try again.

If it runs OK out of the case, it is definitely something got between the board and the case shorting the board out.

Nev.

Thanks for getting back to me I will try that,if it had shorted out will the board still be ok?,anything else I could test, i purchased a budget fan and case under £80 for both which im now regretting but it was a 900w psu so thought it would be fine.

OK i took motherboard out of case and laid on cardboard to check if it was shorting out somewhere still nothing, whats strange is the moment i short the psu out the fan on the new 900w psu kicks in.

When connected to the MB nothing.

As mentioned in earlier post I suspected the PSU so I got my 3 year old pc and used the coolermaster 700w PSU connected to new MB, hit power button on the case it instantly started?changed back the PSU cables and nothing.

What could this be I dont think the 900w PSU is faulty as when shorted it works and as mentioned it was working fine for a day, I did notice on the new 900w PSU that it does not mention intel core i5 or even intel, is it possible that this PSU only does AMD ?

Does anyone have any suggestions before I return it.

Thanks
