Re: Windows NT Client with Windows 2003 Domain

Why not join the machines to the domain and set up domain accounts for the

users and have the users do a domain login?

If you do not want to join the machines to the domain you could put them

in a workgroup with the same Netbios name as the domain. Then set up

accounts for the users on the domain.

Re: Windows NT Client with Windows 2003 Domain

Thanks for the fast reply

ok first of all ive been told that you cant add a windows nt to a windows

2003 domain, or i should say that how they set it up. Secondly ive done what

you said with the workgroup and netbios name. Things seem to for but there

is a certain folder on a windows 2000 server that i need access to i map the

folder to the drive and add the password everything works fine until you

restart the windows nt machine or the network is lost. Ive added rights to

the windows 2000 server share with the windows nt logon but still it loses

it...

Re: Windows NT Client with Windows 2003 Domain

Is the W2000 server a domain member?

If it is you do not need to put a password on the share. Just share the

folder to Authenticated Users. Any user with a valid domain

username/password should be able to access it. That should include your NT

clients.

If the server is not a domain member you are stuck with authenticating

to the server itself.

Re: Windows NT Client with Windows 2003 Domain

the w2000 server is a domain member but the windows nt client does not log

on the windows 2003 domain. For some reason it always ask for a password to

the map drive every time it restarts any ideas?
