Hi,

i dont know how to do a screen shot on my device manager

Open an account with Photobucket.

Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket

Open Device Manager and click the > next to Network adapters

Press PrtSc ( print Screen key )

Open Paint. ( Start > Accessories )

Paste the screen copy ......CTRL + V

Save As ........give it a name and a location that you will be able to find

(make sure you save it with a .jpg extension)

Go back to Photobucket.

Click on the Upload Now button

Click on Select Photos and Videos

Locate your saved file.

Highlight it > Open

When upload is complete click on "Save and continue to my album"

Highlight the Pic then from the box that appears below select "IMG Code"

It will say "copied"

Paste the IMG Code into your next post.

It looks like a long process but it is easy enough.

i have a belkin wireless usb network adapter mod nof5d8053 v6 i loaded the software dics i got with it and that didnot work for the conection it still says cant be found but it didn,t install any utility

when i press the fn key

I don't think you need to. The prtSc key will do the job by itself.

You would only need the Fn key if PrtSc was in blue.

Did you follow this process ?

Belkin : Support : Installing your wireless Cardbus or USB network card in Windows Vista

it didn,t install any utility

Are you saying that after you used the installation disk - there is nothing showing in Device Manager when the Belkin adapter is put in the USB port ?

Does Windows detect new hardware when you put the adapter into the USB port ?

Please see this and my other previous post.

Your manual is here:

http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/p75451_f5d8053.pdf

See p8 onwards for installation.

Also it says:

At the time of initial release of this product, Windows Vista

drivers were not available for release and might not be included on the

CD shipped with your product

Did you have the correct drivers on the CD ?

I personally would not use any software that comes with routers or USB/PCI dongles.

If you goto the manufacturers website you will be able to find the driver needed (you will obviously have to do this from a PC with internet)

when you have the driver install it and then plug the dongle in and it will be recognised via windows and then you can configure it for your network.

you will need the passphrase which is known as your 'key' if you dont know it already it will be on the bottom of the router on a sticker

With the ethernet cable connected:

Open your internet browser.

In the address bar at the top - highlight the address then type 192.168.2.1 then press ENTER

This should give you accesss to your router.

If this fails try 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

If the password box is empty try just clicking on the submit button.

If you are asked for a password it is probably admin.

Can you have a look around to see if there is an option to enable / disable the wireless option.

Hi,

Go back into the router settings and you are looking for something like Wireless LAN.

You will be broadcasting on a channel.

If this is 7 try changing it to 11 or vice-versa.

Come out of router settings.

Try again wirelessly.

============

With the ethernet cable out:

In the bottom right of screen > monitor icon > right click > repair

( should have tried this previously )

Same icon > Connect to a network

Can you see yours?

Can you connect? You will need the security key if you are running a secure network.

With the ethernet cable connected ....

Ping the router.

Start > Run ...type in ....cmd .....ENTER

Type .....ping 192.168.2.1 ( or whatever combination you used to access the router )

You should get 4 packets sent and 4 received. No errors.

Do the same wirelessly.

Again you should get 4 sent and received.

==============================

Wirelessly ......at the prompt type ipconfig /all ( space after ipconfig )

right click > select all

CTRL + C

then paste the results here. ( CTRL + V )

The problem with things like this is without actually being there it is VERY hard to see what is going on.

Have you changed anything in the router?

Do you know if the router is acting as a DHCP server - there will be a STATUS page on the router page that will tell you.

Do you know if you are required to add the MAC address of any wireless devices to access your wireless

Like Dalo said it's hard to diagnose without being there.

It seems your drivers are ok.

One computer can connect but not the other.

So what is the difference between the two computers?

Did you enter the router key when trying to connect? It's usually on the bottom of the router.

Is there security software on one computer that is not on the other?

For instance with Mcafee Security Suites you have to allow a connection there before configuring it with Windows.

The point is you have to isolate the differences then work with security software to allow it.

You may have to start all over by deleting the connections and disabling security temporarily to figure it out.

I'm not a network guy but it may help if you do so.

Good luck.

Hi,

Wirelessly ( no cable connected ) ...

Start > Help and Support > Troubleshooting > Network Connectivity Problems / Internet Connection Problems

This is worth a shot - it will probably come back with "Error identified but can't do anything about it" :)

I switched off my wireless connection.

I am fairly sure that the problem lies with your laptop and not the router settings.

Do you get the same results if you use the wireless adapter ?

Are you sure that the wireless connection switch is on and the LED lit ?
