RDC stopped working

RDC stopped working from my laptop(xp) to desktop pc(xp). Click connect and nothing happens -- RDC windows flashes slightly then returns to the initial state. I tested RDC on the laptop by connecting to a virtualpc(vista) and it can connect ok. The desktop can't be reached by a virtualpc either, so terminal services is broken on the desktop pc. The terminal services service is running and TS is allowed is system properties. Can you think of a way to fix the desktop?

Paul,

 

Do you event logs shed any light on your situation? Have you installed any

kind of firewall recently? Have you installed Sp3? can you telnet to the

3389 port?

On the desktop:

Application popup: : \SystemRoot\System32\RDPDD.dll failed to load

 

On the laptop:

RDP protocol... has an error in the protocol stream....

 

I am using the 175.16 beta nvidia driver for my 8800GTS card. The driver appears to be the problem, and the install was at about the same time as the start of the TS problems.

The desktop controls the video for my home theater, and the driver situation is very twitchy -- I've spent a lot of time debugging problems recently and this driver seems the best so far. Too bad it breaks RDP. Windows hairball strikes again. Many expletives deleted here. What a joke.
