Program Installation Problem

I have a problem when attempting to install any program on my HP notebook PC.

The installation will initiate, and progress one - three stages further,

when the whole installation process suddenly terminates itself. No error

message, or anything other notifications are given. It seems as if the

installation process tmes itself out, which occurs after only a few seconds

from initiating an install. I have admin rights, and also attempted to

install from a different location viz. CD or flash drive.

This problem is driving me nuts. Does anybody recognize this strange

behaviour, and can someone please provide me with some help to resolve it ?

Kind regards

Re: Program Installation Problem

the makers of whatever

software you are trying

to install should have

all the information you

need including technical

support.

however, software usually

begins the process of

auditing your configuration

to ensure that is in

compliance to the

requirements of that

particular program.

if no errors pop up, then

it is likely a result of

poor programming on

the part of the engineers

that designed that program

and not windows.

Re: Program Installation Problem

Hi db, this problem comes up fairy regularly i.e. some programs will install

without problems, whilst others simply refuses. Tell me, why does the same

problem not occur when I attempt to install the problematic application on my

Home desktop PC ? Thus, I am inclined to believe that the problem is not so

much with the program I'm trying to install, but rather my system. What do

you make of that then ?

Re: Program Installation Problem

well, if the two machines

were identical in every way,

then you wouldn't have

this issue.

however, since i do not

know the specifications

of your machines or the

program you are having

trouble with, then it would

be safe to say that both

your machines are different

in a number of respects.

differences are not only

attributed to hardware,

but their drivers, the updates

installed for windows that

apply to your configuration

and whatever else you

may have installed on it

or even an infection of

some sort.

it would seem reasonable

that if you have two machines

then it is likely you use one

of them more than the other

and something got installed

without your knowledge.

also, it is also reasonable to

believe that many people

operate on dysfunctional

computers all the time because

they are unaware or do not

understand how well their

computers should be working,

until there is an utter failure.

my suggestion is to contact

the maker of that software,

as they would have tested

on a multitude of machines

and configurations and are

likely to know the exact problem

with installing their software.

they may have a patch or

update or they may know

of a microsoft patch of update

you need.
