Guest Louis Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Hi, I have this dilema with share and NTFS permission... I am trying to restrict a share with just read permissions and then control write persmisions to the folders inside the share using NTFS permissions. But it seams read takes precedence over write. Conversly, if I give the share read/write permissions and NTFS read to the folders same thins happens. Any suggestion on how to circumvent this?
Guest Anthony [MVP] Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Re: NTFS vs Share permisions Louis, What are you trying to circumvent? The most restrictive permissions will apply, so you just need to set up the permissions you require. What are you trying to achieve? This is how it works - the more restrictive permissions will always apply. I tend to use Everyone=Full for share permissions and control everything granularly via NTFS security.
