Guest augfl Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 What does this warning mean: Event Viewer: Application: Warning: WinMgmt: Event 63: A provider, HiPerfCooker_v1, has been registered in the WMI namespace, Root\WMI, to use the local system account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests.

I'm guessing that you saw this event shortly after you installed SP3. I have an open ticket on this topic with Microsoft, but as near as I can tell, it doesn't indicate that anything "bad" is going on. HiPerfCooker appears to be related to the "Formatted Performance Data Provider" aka the "Cooked Counter Provider" (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa390431(VS.85).aspx). -- Lem -- MS-MVP To the moon and back with 2K words of RAM and 36K words of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer http://history.nasa.gov/afj/compessay.htm
