xillius Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Parts: Asus M4A78LT-M amd athalon II 3.0 OCUK EZCool NA-705 Case - Black (500w PSU) I am sure I have all the calbes in correct however the machine wont boot what could the problem be? I have jumped the psu and it works Quote
KenB Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Hi and welcome to fpch I suggest that you strip it down again. Take all cards ( RAM / Sound / Video etc ) off the m/board. Disconnect the hard drive / dvd drive data cables from the m/board. Take the molex power connections off the hard drive / dvd drive. Leave only the 20(4) way connector from the PSU connected. Switch on. You should get POST beeps if there is an onboard speaker or the case speaker is connected. Put one card / connection back at a time - each time checking for POST. Get back to us with results and further details. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! xillius Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 I get no post boot sounds however the green light is on, on the mother board. Quote
KenB Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 The green light is not an indication that all is well. If the case speaker is connected ... you should get POST. Unscrew the retaining screws that hold the m/board to the case. Sit the board on some card or a folded newspaper. Try booting again. If it POSTs now you had a short between the board and the case. Failing that - you have a problem woth either the PSU or the motherboard. If you have a spare PSU ( even a low wattage one ) give that a try. KenB Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 the psu works. How do you know? Have you tested the voltages or are you assuming it works because the LEDs are lit? Have you tested it on another machine? Did you try the m/board out of the case? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Dalo Harkin Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Check that all the case wires are in the correct orientation (+ and -) and pins on the Motherboard If you are unsure then have a look in the Motherboard manual Case wires attach at the bottom right of the Motherboard if the MOBO is sat in a case Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
