Guest lenny Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Hi, We have a server with a Terminal Services Server. Everybody in the office has a login name and password on this and they log onto any PC in the office and Remote Desktop onto their terminal services desktop. One PC was originally setup with a roaming profile and that one person now seems to be working far slower than all the other users (accessing data and loading databases etc.) I think this is due to a huge profile. I would like to convert this user to the same as everybody else (Just a basic Remote Desktop Logon without being a roaming profile) but don't really know what to do and am also afraid of loosing all her data and settings. Any suggestions in the right direction would be appreciated. Cheers Lenny
Guest Frankster Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Re: roaming profile to remote desktop access You should be able to simply eliminate the path to the roaming profile in the "Profile" tab in the Domain Controller. -Frank "lenny" <lenny@thetakeout.com> wrote in message news:wYCdnbC2T9Pl56fVnZ2dneKdnZydnZ2d@pipex.net... > Hi, > We have a server with a Terminal Services Server. Guest Cliff Galiher Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Re: roaming profile to remote desktop access That will prevent a roaming profile from being created on new machines, but the 'primary' workstation must also be told to use a local profile, whether that is the machine she logs in to, or the TS...depending on where you are trying to improve performance. To do so, go to the system properties, click on the advanced tab, click on the 'settings' button in the user profiles box, and then find her user and click on the 'change type' button. Good luck, -Cliff To do this, on the workstation, "Frankster" <Frank@SPAM2TRASH.com> wrote in message news:z6-dnelpmuMyOqfVnZ2dnUVZ_hqdnZ2d@giganews.com... > You should be able to simply eliminate the path to the roaming profile in > the "Profile" tab in the Domain Controller. > > -Frank > > "lenny" <lenny@thetakeout.com> wrote in message > news:wYCdnbC2T9Pl56fVnZ2dneKdnZydnZ2d@pipex.net... >> Hi, >> We have a server with a Terminal Services Server. All your TS users should have a terminal sservices profile path specified either in their user account properties in ADUC or via group policy. I tend to use \\server\profiles$ for roaming, \\server\tsprofiles$ for terminal services.
