My laptop died. I pulled the hard drive to use as an external drive.

Unfortuantely, I used a password on my laptop prior to its death, now I

cannot access the one directory I want. All the HELP says to move the

directory to the shared folders. I cannot move it or copy it. It says

"access denied." I know the password; I just cannot figure out how to get

the computer to ask me for it. Anyone???

Thanks.

You need to log on as "Administrator" and seize ownership

of the folder in question. Click Start / Help and look for help

on "Ownership" if unsure how to do this.

Re: Moving files

Take ownership of the files and you will be able to do as you please

with them.

How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP
