Why is Verizon now a part of top tool bar and....

Recommended Posts

I powered up my Toshiba laptop this afternoon and the Verizon logo is now

part of my top bar and in the Windows Search bar. Kinda odd since I'm on

AT&T DSL.

Top Bar: Verizon Online DSL with MSN

Search Bar: Verizon with MSN

I take a dim view of computer hijacking which this seems to be.

1. How did it happen?

2. How do I get it off without wiping the drive and reinstalling with the

Toshiba restore disk?

3. Would there be anything else that may have been changed I haven't seen yet?

Thank you in advance for any info! RobertETH

Do you have a program named:

C:\Program Files\Verizon\McciBrowser.exe

on your PC.

Also a service named:

C:\Program Files\Verizon\VSP\VerizonServicepoint.exe

Problem solved - Ran CCleaner to wipe the cookies and other items and it took

the Verizon Logo off - looks like it should now. Thanks for the suggestion

to look for "Verizon" in the files.

Re: Why is Verizon now a part of top tool bar and....

Mcci is a software company. Not associated with Verizon, apparently.

Accidently allowed "McciBrowser" access to my computer and have been

experiencing major hangups when signing on and signing off internet sites.

Shut down "McciTrayApp.exe" process and troubles went away. I need an

uninstall that will get rid of the whole program without residual troubles.

Verizon and Mcci do have an agreement AND

the Verizon Tech will install this software when

you have FIOS installed.
