Guest Help me Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Hello My client has 2 sites and I have made the server at the branch location into a bdc with the global catalog set on. It is running DNS and DHCP in a different subnet then the home office. When I attempt add I get the following: The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain ramahadrom.local: The error was: "DNS name does not exist." (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR) The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.xdomain.local Common causes of this error include the following: - The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS. - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone: xdomain.local local .. (the root zone) How do I resovle this issue ?
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Re: Adding computers to a AD/bdc Hello help, I assume the new DC can ping the DNS server with ip address, servername and FQDN? Is the new DC also DNS server? Please post an unedited ipconfig /all from both DC/DNS servers. Did you run ipconfig /registerdns on the new DC? What kind of zones do you use? Guest Help me Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Re: Adding computers to a AD/bdc As per below the DC is a DNS and it is the primary DNS for the server too. I did an dcdiag and a netdiag and both are clean. I have both forward and backword the zone is xdoamin.local with an IP address of 192.168.254.240 in the branch office. The main office is 192.168.0.2 and has the same zone name. "Meinolf Weber" wrote: > Hello help, > > I assume the new DC can ping the DNS server with ip address, servername and > FQDN?
