monitor turns on but stays black

wend i turn on my laptop just after the screen that you can chose to go to bios my screen stays black and nothing happens what can i do to overcome this problem

 

please help

Try actually going into the bios when you are prompted. If you get there and can see it that will eliminate the monitor itself as a possible issue. Is the light for your hard drive lighting up on the case? Are you hearing any strange sounds like clicking or grinding? It is quite possible that you have an issue with the hard drive.

hi yeah i can get to bios and it´s fine, no strange sounds , the light from the hard drive is lighting only for a few seconds , and no the hard drive it´s fine i tested in a diferent pc

but my screen now dosen´t turn on :(

Are you using onboard graphics or an add in card?

 

Can you list the spec of the PC for us

How do you know the HDD is fine, you say this is a laptop, has someone physically taken the HDD out of the case?

 

Have you checked it has been reinstalled correctly?

 

Have you tried hooking the laptop to another monitor such as a TV?

I removed the HDD from the laptop to check if it was ok and put on a different laptop and it works fine.

 

The Laptop doesn't boot at all, i tried to boot from windows CD and the same append has if it was booting from HDD just got a black screen, the screen was not off , just stayed black, but know doesn't turn on!!!

 

No i haven't tried using a cable, i will try that and i let you know
