I have a Dell 1735 and cannot get any sound. I think I may have clicked a box in error.

When I click on the speaker at the bottom right of my lap top I see this.....Independent (R.T.C.) Headphones. I can't remember seeing this before. All I used to do was click on the speaker and it would ask if I wanted to mute.

What have I done:(

Hi bennyzen, welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

First off click start and select "Control Panel," then sound. In the window that opens if not already on it, click the tab for Playback. There should be at least the loudspeaker icon with a green tick next to it. If not click on it, then Properties, check that Select this device is there in the drop down menu.

Please let us know if you find something different or none of that does the trick.

Nev.
