rconsole/rclient error on XP-64

We have some XP 64-bit SP2 systems that we cannot connect to with rclient.

This is the result:

C:\NTRESKIT\rconsole>rclient \\xp64cpu

Initializing ...

Authentication ...

The server rejected the connection. The system cannot find the file

specified.

If we try and reinstall the service we get the following Event id 7000:

The Remote Console service failed to start due to the following error:

"System cannot find the file specified"

The process has worked fine for years on XP 32-bit.

Anyone have any ideas about how to resolve this?

RE: rconsole/rclient error on XP-64

Hello,

Thank you for your post.

As we know, rclient.exe is the client of the Remote Console utility, which

is included in the Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit.

Unfortunately, Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit has been out of support

licecyle, the support for Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit has been discontinued.

Therefore, I recommend you use other tool, for example Windows remote

desktop in order to obtain better product support.

Thanks for your understanding. : )
