I've had this problem for quite some time now, tried on several different headsets and speakers,it even happens on another desktop of mine.

There is a static in the background whenever the computer usage gets high sounds like an aircraft taking off or a robot beeping away like Morse code and can get very loud at times which as you can imagine can get very annoying too..

Then I thought I may be plugging jacks into the wrong ports, as there are two on the front and around 6 on the back all different colours making it real confusing to one who doesn't know anything about computers! I have tried posting this problem on various other sites with no reply which of course means no solution

I was told by a friend to upgrade my sound card driver, so I went onto the website and tried it.. installed asked me to reset, when I did it reset me back to Microsoft's default sound system and on top of that the static still remained, before I had RealTeck HD Audio or something.. Help!

The noise you are saying sounds like interference from another device, normally a mobile or similar device...

The ports depending on the card there are normally:-

BLUE

BLACK

RED

GREEN

ORANGE

PINK

and depending on the setup, blue is normally REAR speakers and green FRONT, with Orange SUB

On your front ports there is normally Green and Pink - Green is front and pink is mic :)

Hi, first I agree with Dalo here, the sounds you describe do appear to be external interference rather than something inside the computer.

However it still could be internal, I once had some tremendous interference due to the cable to the hard drive not being seated correctly.

Granted that was on an older machine using the broad grey ribbon cable or IDE type of system.

However at the moment we don't know much about what computer you have in order to give better advice, if you can tell us the make, model, and whether this is a desktop or a laptop it will be a big help.

From that knowledge we can hopefully find which socket does what, and also point you in the right direction to download the correct drivers for the sound system.

Nev.

Based on this quote I'd say it is an internal problem, any external interference would be consistent with the 'noise' of the external device, not the speed or load of the PC itself.

First thought for me is the hard drive, I've known them make a lot of noise in desktops and more so laptops through sound systems. Moving internal cabling can help alot.

Just another angle :)
