Wierd Monitor issue

Hi guys wonder if anyone can shed a little light on whats going on with my monitor. I have an LG Flatron l227wtp which has been fine until recently. When i reboot my PC the monitor wont come back on, the screen stays black and the power light just blinks, then with loads of reboots and messing around i've managed to get it working. If i reboot PC but turn monitor off first its fine! I returned to my PC earlier this week and the PC had auto rebooted and i cant get it to come back on at all now. I had tried the monitor with different cables, no change and i have put another old (very small and very square!!!) monitor on the same cables as originally and it works fine.

I gues what i'd like to know is has it died or is it worth trying to fix?

If i have to get a knew one i'm thinking Iiyama ProLite E2407HDS but i could do with out the cost to be honest.

It just sounds like the monitor isnt being 'seen'

Are you using onboard graphics or an add in card? if using an add in do you have onboard and have you tried both?

 

If you can get it into windows, go to device manager and under display UNINSTALL the monitor and it should be picked back up (as a generic monitor at the least)

Trouble is if i have that monitor on i cant do anything graphics card is nvidia Gforce 9500gt i think.

Update on problem, it just gets stranger! Just rebooted PC with the old monitor hooked up and it booted up but only half of my desktop picture appeared but everything else was fine! When i changed desktop pic then changed it back again it was all fine again! Now i'm wondering if there is something wrong with graphics card but it seems to run fine now i just dont get it at all. I'm even more unsure about spendin £150 on a new monitor now!

Anyone got any thoughts?

If there is more than one port on the back of the GPU, try the other too, its not uncommon for one of the ports to go bad
