Guest Eric Miller Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Before I start adding computers to AD do I still need to turn on Network Discovery?
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Re: Before adding desktops to.... Hello Eric, I assume it's a Vista machine? Then check this all: -Network Discovery has to be enabled -You must have a Domain DNS server as primary on the NIC settings, NO internet DNS servers -Use the FQDN of the domain to join, like mycompany.com -The time difference between vista & domain must be < 5 mn -File Sharing has to be enabled Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. ** Please do NOT email, only reply to Newsgroups ** HELP us help YOU!!! http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm > Before I start adding computers to AD do I still need to turn on > Network Discovery? >

Guest Meinolf Weber Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Re: Before adding desktops to.... Hello Eric, On the DC you can use the default settings to connect the clients to the domain. For the ip configuration please post an unedited ipconfig /all. You have to use an ip from a private ip range not from the public internal in the domain. Also clients have to use only domain internal ip's and also DNS server. On the DC/DNS server you have to setup forwarders to the ISP's DNS server, so all clients in the domain have internet access if needed.
