rights necessary to read the event log

i want from my computer read the event log of my servers (one dc and a tse)

 

what are the necessary rights to access thoses files ?

 

Or in which group does i add my user...

hello Meinolf

 

I want that everybody in my company use normal user on there computers, as

the technical team, so my user is not a domain admin account

 

and after writting this fews words and meaning of your question .... i

found, why didn't i use the run as ... sometimes you forget logicals thinks

 

it run

 

if you other solution why not and thanks for your help.

Hello,

 

In general, if you want to connect to another computer via the Event Viewer

and read the events there, you may need to be a member of the Domain Admins

group to perform this procedure. The detailed information is listed in the

following articles:

However, if you are currently using an un-administrative account, you can

use an administrative account belonging to Domain Admins group when you

select the computer that you want to connect to. This can be done by

selecting the Connect as another user: on the Select Computer dialog box.

 

We suggest that you use the above method, however, you can try setting

event log security by changing Registry and Group Policy, as listed in the

following article:

 

How to set event log security locally or by using Group Policy in Windows

Server 2003:

Please note that we do not suggest that you try this method, as it is

really complicated and may bring some serious problems if you modify the

Registry incorrectly.
