joes363 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 okay, so basically i've recently built a system to which i've been running for about 4-5 months and now have replaced my motherboard. Now, after putting my system all back together it won't start up, the fans all fire up and the lights are all on but there's nothing on the screen. There are no beeps. There is a red flashing light on my pc tower which i've never had before, it flashes every 1-2 seconds. I've never actually watched a motherboard when it's on so i don't know what is normal or not, but there is a red light that flashes between 2 things that have written below them "CPU" and "DRAM". There is also an amber flashing light behind the graphics card, but i can't see it to see what it says. The only noise i can hear the is out of ordinary is what sounds like a fan powering on and off, though all fans are on and look fine. The sound seems to be synchronized with the light flashing between cpu and dram. the motherboard is ASUS Crosshair IV Formula graphics card: Asus 1GB Radeon HD 5770 ram: 4gb corsair xms3 power supply: coolermaster gx650watt CPU: amd phenom II x 4 any other details needed let me know. hope somebody can help as i have no idea what the problem is! i took a lot of care with the motherboard so i don't believe at the moment i've damaged it. Thanks! Quote
KenB Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Hi, Sorry this is a bit late. If you are still having problems ............ and now have replaced my motherboard This could well be your problem. If the new motherboard is not exactly the same as the old one then your machine will invariably refuse to boot up. Windows is "clever" enough to recognise that it is in a different environment. Dalo Harkin Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 You should still get the POST (BIOS screen) as the OS is loaded after this point. Are you usre that the CPU and the RAM you are using is supported on this new board? Check the documentation or list the:- MOBO make and model CPU and RAM Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
