christinekeys Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I have just tried to open an application attached to an email and have got this message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." Can anyone please tell me where I find this and how I go about it. Not sure why I am suddenly not able to open an attached application, as never had trouble before. Thanks for your help christinekeys Quote
Starbuck Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hi Christine, It would depend on what program was used to create the attached file. E.g: if it's a Microsoft Office Word 97 - 2003 Document, it'll have a file extension of... .doc if it's a Microsoft Office Word 2007-2010 Document, it'll have a file extension of... .docx What is the file extension of the attached file? To determine what program created the attached file, find the extension in this list: What Is...every file format in the world - A through E Obviously you would need the same program on your system to open it. Starbuck Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hi Frank, I've had that link in my 'Bookmarks' for about 2-3 years now. I don't know how often it's updated ..... but it's still been very useful in the past though. Quote Member of:UNITE
