Home built desktop with AsrockG31m-V52 M/B

3GB ram

Core 2 duo

W7 Professional

Hi,Nothing wrong with desktop but have problem connecting USB Sata Bridge. Works perfectly with laptop H/Ds, have used Acronis to load about 20 different ones with clone copies, but for some reason the 3 different Sata Bridges I have will not operate full size (Desktop 3.5") hard drives

They do appear in disk management (Not in "Computer") and after attaching one and going to disk management you immediately get a box saying the disk needs to be Innitiallized and on clicking yes another box pops up saying "Device Not Ready"

The same happens on all the options in the left hand box on the drives listing in Computer Management

"Diskpart" sees the drive but gives size as 0

This result is the same for 5 different 3.5" Hard drives I have, all Sata less than 2 years old ranging from 160 - 500 GB, but allo the laptop ones work first time

have searched various forums but not found an answer that worked and would much appreciate any help,

Thanks, Boyd

3.5 inch drives require a power source and the USB rail on your PSU won't cut it

get an external caddy and use that :)
