hi, I have been having some problems with my computer and did what I think was called a 'partial system restore' (although im not completely sure this is what it was called) after checking it said I would'nt lose any of my files.

After it had done its thing I found all my music files and photos had gone! I would'nt have tried this thing if I knew it would've deleted all my files as I didnt back them up. Does anyone know a way I can recover these files?

any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

If you tried using System Restore to fix a problem but the problem remained or other problems were introduced, you can undo the restore operation. After you undo System Restore, you can try using a different restore point.

  1. Open System Restore by clicking the Start button http://res2.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows%20Vista/main/4/f/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Restore.* http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows%20Vista/main/1/8/18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b/18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b.png If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. Click Undo System Restore, and then click Next.
  3. Review your choices, and then click Finish.
Your computer will restart. When finished, you'll see a confirmation that the undo process is completed.
