Hi, looking to upgrade the memory in an old desktop,have done a orca memory test and it has told me that the motherboard has four memory slots,I have opened the case and can only see two slots,the ram installed is as follows samsung 2 sticks of pc2700 256mb ddr 184 pin the orca scan says that there is four slots so im buggered, i aint computer savvy so any help would be greatful

Forget what the software says, if you can only physically see two then just get the largest sticks you can that the board supports (be very careful as around the DDR 2700/3200 era) most of the RAM on ebay now is ECC and this is for servers and not desktops.

 

Check your Motherboard documentation as the board 'should' be able to take at least 2GB (possibly 4) of PC3200
