KMS multiple keys not showing

I have just installed multiple keys onto a newly installed KMS, running the

slmgr.vbs /ipk twice (once for each product key – Vista & W2k8) and then I

went through the activation process. My concern is that when I run slmgr.vbs

/dlv it displays a line that reads “Partial Product Key: ABCDE”, but this key

only represents the Vista licence key and not the W2k8 licence. Does this

mean that it I can not register W2k8 against this service? I thought it would

register all products.

RE: KMS multiple keys not showing

Hello,

You can only use one KMS key, not multiple ones.

The Windows Server 2008 key are hierarchical which means they would also

activate Windows Vista Clients.

Last installed KMS product key should win, so you may want to attempt to

install the Windows Server 2008 KMS key again.

Thanks,

RE: KMS multiple keys not showing

Ok. I think I understand. So I go throught the process again for the server

key (on the same server).

Now under "Partial Product Key" it shows the 2008 key details. But I take

it that the total client will enable the 250 (vista amount) and not the 10

covered by the W2k8 key covered.

Thanks

RE: KMS multiple keys not showing

Hello Stephen,

The KMS host does not track a count specific to the your license agreement.

It doesn't care whether they are clients or servers, or how many of either.

It simply maintains a count.

The client machines activate when the count is sufficient to meet their

requirements.

The 250 and 10 are simply part of your agreement, they dont' affect the

operation of the host machine.

Thanks,

Darrell Gorter[MSFT]
