So far so good. Did some uninstalls of current apps, installs,

re-installs and it works fine. I don't know yet how Microsoft went

from 3.1 to 4.5.

If/when you need the new installer, it will tell you and force you to

download it.

It is optional but I would recommend updating to it as I now

understand that one of the neat feature available is snapshot

installing. Programmers and developers may take advantage of this

feature so it doesn't hurt to be future-proofed.

Thanks.

Have searched "Snapshot Installation" but cannot get a clear description

of it.

Could you expand/explain the advantages of it please?

I found this:

http://support.installshield.com/newusers/deploy/repackage/methods.asp

So, I assume that as the name suggests "snapshot" uses imaging in some

way.

As it's beyond me, I think I'll wait until it's needed.

Thanks again.

There's info on it here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb736325.aspx

Neowin has detailed it a bit here:
