Cant boot up

My girlfriends nephew tried to help with a virus and wiped her computer. How

can i reinstall windows xp if she doesn't have the xp install disk? It

didn't come with computer but she has the code from the top of machine.

Contact the computer manufacturer for the method of system recovery that

is used.

What is the make and model of the PC?

 

How did her nephew "wipe" the computer?

What did he use to format the drive then? The reason I ask is that it's

possible the OS can be installed using the same CD.

I never heard of that brand. Instructions should be with your

documentation. If not, you need to contact the PC manufacturer; they

will provide you with the method (often it involves using a hidden

partition on your hard drive; hopefully, your nephew didn't wipe that,

too...). An alternative is to obtain a generic OEM installation disk of

XP that matches your product key (e.g., Home or Pro). If you're lucky,

you know someone who has this disk; just make a copy of it. Otherwise,

you would need to purchase one, and it will cost you $80 to $100.
