Installing XP Upgrade on new computer

I have Windows XP Home Edition UPGRADE version that I bought some years ago

when I upgraded my Desktop computer from ME. My son is building me a new

desktop and I want to know if I can use my upgrade version of XP to install

on the new computer?

Will we encounter any problems?

Many Thanks

Being an upgrade, you'll need to have ready a CD with some older OS on

it. Like your Me. You don't need to install it, I believe you just

insert it in the CD Drive when the XP install asks.

Thanks Big_Al

All I have to do now is find my original ME disks, not looking forward to

that.

Re: Installing XP Upgrade on new computer

Failure that, you could create an image [or even clone your old HD] of

your old desktop using Ghost/Acronis on CDs/DVDs and then using the same

programs copy/retrieve the images on your new desktop. Then try

installing XP fwith your Upgrade CD and it should find a qualifying

product. Installation routine will allow you to do a clean install and

you should select it because you don't want all that clutter from old

system on new one.
