Dissallow programs on XP Home

Hello All,

I would like to dissallow certain programs on certain user accounts in XP

Home. I know you can do this in XP Pro with the Group Policy, but that is not

available on XP Home. Specifically, I'd like to dissallow Internet Explorer

from runnng. I know that you can remove the icons, etc, but I really need it

to be dissallowed for this user, so that other programs can't start IE, or so

it can't be started from its folder.

If there is a solution just for IE, that's fine, but one that has more

flexibility would be a plus. I do need IE for other users. The solution needs

to be free, and I am fine working in the Registry.

Thanks,

Dan

You might try Steady State from MS (free). I have no experience with it but

it looks like it will do what you want.

Thanks for the thought about Steady State - I had forgotten about it.

However, Steady State seems like overkill - I really only need to dissallow

one program. I found an MS KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323525

For doing the same thing in Win2000 using the registry, so I'm going to try

it on XP Home
