acer aspire M3641.

 

yesterday my pc made a screeching sound, crashed and wouldnt respond. turning it off and on again was met with the same problem. ive not changed anything nor downloaded anything.

 

when its turned on it powers up but theres not reaction from my monitor. ive checked other monitors so its the pc.

 

any help? id reset it if i could get that far on startup!

A screeching sound at startup is usually a fan in my opinion. Open the case and see if there is a buildup of dirt. At the same time you might be able to tell if the noise is coming from one of the fans when you startup.

Could be anything, its a mechanical part so it narrows it down a little:-

Fan

HDD

If windows is not booting then I would say HDD, as even if a fan packs up the heat generated wouldnt cause the system to not even POST

all you should have to is reset cmos after that also take the lithium battery out boot up PC then turn it off and put it back in note make sure you unplug your PC and no electricity is flowing while working inside pc for your safety
