yenchex Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Please help. I am trying to copy my research files from a library computer into a USB Flash Drive but couldn't as the administrator disabled the USB port. I tried enable it back through Regedit. I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\UsbStor and type 4 and click Hexadecimal. I received an error message "Cannot edit Start: Error writing the value's new contents. I tried to get full permission for user to change it but was denied. Please someone help me. Thanks. Quote
Dalo Harkin Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 No can do I'm afraid, if the ports have been disabled by an Admin, it needs an Admin to use them (re enable) I would email them to yourself and log in at a PC that you know you can use the flash drive on, and get them off that way Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
iGennie Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 you need Administrator permission to edit windows registry... If you are admin..go to admin account and then try regedit again...and if you are not admin.. contact your admin for the same Quote
