Hello. I'm new here. I can usually find what I need without asking specific questions but not this time.

Put a new hard drive in my daughters HP laptop and downgraded it to XP from Vista (upgrade in my opinion). Trying to download the ethernet driver from realtek on the home computer to no avail. It does not seem to matter what path I take they all end up at the realtek site and the driver will not download.

The driver I need is for the RTL8101 series. Once I have this driver I can connect the internet and update all her other drivers.

Any ideas or help would be apprieciated.

I'm not a whiizz but am not without some skills.

Thanks

Since this is a HP you could try this HP link. Vista Realtek RTL8101 Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) Driver

This HP link states it's for XP. Microsoft Windows XP Realtek RTL8101 Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) Driver

If that isn't what you need we might need the model and number of the HP laptop.

Thanks for the reply.

Been to that site. After hitting download, windows explorer cannot display the web page.

It is the same with every download link. Eventually windows cannot display the page. I think they must all go back to the original realtek page.

I'm starting to wonder if the earthquake has affected realteks database or something. I'm not having any other internet problems.

More help please.

Also I have tried to download other things from the realtek site to no avail. Just as a test.

Thanks

As long as you got it working that's what counts. And for the record that's not the first time Synapse has come to my rescue. :)
