This group is for Windows98.

Ask your question on an XP newsgroup.

You want this group:

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/topics

While you might get a good answer here, you're just as likely to get bad

ones. Also, people who find this thread using search engines might think it

was about Windows 98 (when reading the answers, which might no longer

mention Windows XP) and apply the advice, with possibly disastrous results.

Re: pc restarting

To actually answer your question regarding *XP*,,, you might check for

errors related to these issues on an XP forum. However, there is an error

specific to Service Pack 3 related to this issue.

IF SP3 has been installed, try GOOGLE:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=XP+SP3+restart+error&btnG=Google+Search

Most of these revolve around AMD processors

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=XP+SP3+errors&btnG=Search

IF you are still using SP2:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=XP+SP2+restart+errors&btnG=Search

As was indicated elsewhere, try using a forum devoted to XP.

Re: pc restarting

How True and how Guilty I have been of not mentioning Windows 98 Second

Edition by name when using Windows 98 general discussion newsgroup as well as

Windows XP general newsgroup as well as the Windows General Security

newsgroup at the same time. I do not multi-task well. <grin and I should

bear it in reference to Robear who is awesome in my opinion>
