Script error in Installer 3.1!

HELP! I've upgraded to Explorer 7.0, removed and re-installed Windows

Installer 3.1, and have been trying to install webcam software, LogiTech

QuickCam Pro for Notebooks. Continually get ERROR 1720: Something to the

effect of "Software package unable to open...does not have script necessary

to open installer. can not open. Contact service personnel, et al."

 

I've talked to Gateway laptop support, et al...who directed me to reinstall

3.1..which i have...and same problem. PLEASE HELP!!!
