They have both a free and a pay version, the freebie being well endowed. http://www.v-com.com/support/intro_PowerDesk.html It's actually a Windows Explorer replacement with with a LOT more things added onto it like the File Finder and single or dual panes a la the old windows versions. It'll do Finds by path/name or folder or drive. Faster than Windows search, too. Start with the freebie version; I suspect you'll like it. HTH Twayne

ACDSee it's a graphic viewer but does about anything you need done including finding duplicate files (not just graphic extensions, all files). I still use 3.1 http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=acdsee -- Touch me http://youtube.com/watch?v=_A5Wru2kUrg

But remember, keep in mind that many apps want to see the same file in their own folder. -- http://www.bootdisk.com/

For image duplicates or near-duplicates (adjustable), the best I have found is called Unique Filer. It is not new (there /is/ a new Beta version to test) and looks a bit funky but it is miles ahead in usability and effectiveness than anything else I've tried. It ALSO does all other files, not just images. http://www.uniquefiler.com/ BTW, you should be aware SOME files are in more than one place for a very good reason. -- We look at each other; see that we do not know each other, stare, and go off. As someone else mentioned, though, be careful what you ask for--you might get it, or lose it in this case. You can remove dupes that are needed. Perhaps the others also do this, but DoubleKiller does not automatically delete files; it displays a list of dupes and you can decide for yourself which ones to delete. Allen

Guest Allan Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Try Directory Report Try Directory Report I use Directory Report to find my duplicate files. http://www.file-utilities.com/downloads/wdir.zip It can find duplicate files based on the same: name, size, CRC (32 bit hash) and/or comparing byte by byte Duplicate files can be: Deleted to recycle bin (safest) Deleted permanently Replaced by a hard link (must be on same disk) There are many options so anyone should be able to customize it the way they want
