I have just received a new monitor. Manufacturer: Asus. Model: VH242H. According to the documents, its 'True Resolution' is 1920 x 1080. However, when I try to set my computer display to this resolution, the screen turns black, and a small box appears reading 'OUT OF RANGE'.

I can currently set my display to 1280x1024, or 1600x900. However neither of these work particularly well. My computer is connected to the monitor via a VGA cable that was included with the monitor.

How can I get the display to the monitor's true resolution?

Have you updated the hardware driver and software for your graphics card?

You have to use the GPU and windows software to configure the new monitor.

What is the make and model of your GPU?

Never mind, I've solvved the problem. I plugged in my new monitor without restarting my computer, so the computer thought it was still plugged into the previous monitor. Now I've restarted it, it's set itself to the monitor's natural resolution, which is the highest available.

Heh... can't believe I forgot something so basic. Thanks anyway Jelly Bean.
