Hi All,

I am writing this to salt into the archives so

as to help someone else. (This does not mean I

am a nice guy!)

If you just installed XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)

and noticed that your USB Memory/thumb drives no longer

work (but do work everywhere else) and you are running

an older version of Kaspersky Open Space Security

(their corporate product), then upgrade to the

lastest Kaspersky and you will get your USB drives

back after you reboot.

Kaspersky downloads:

http://www.kaspersky.com/productupdates

My old version was kav6.0.2.678_winwksen.exe;

my upgraded version was kav6.0.3.837_winwksen.exe

Hope this helps someone else,

-T

Ooops. I forgot to tell the symptom: your stick will

read and read and read (meaning the LED light will flash)

and eventually a pop up will tell you your stick is

unformatted. Whatever you do, DO NOT reformat your stick!

If in doubt, try it out in a different (non-sp3/old

Kaspersky) machine.
