Has anyone used Toast.net for their ISP?

I'm not sure where to ask this. I need to get a new ISP because the

one I am using now cut the newsgroup access, their spam blocker sends

the spam and blocks my good email, and now they are insisting I

upgrade to XP. Their service was already horrid, and now they are

jacking up their prices. Needless to say, they can take a hike.

 

I'm limited to few choices because of my location, or it would be a

long distance call. I DO NOT want to use AOL, Earthlink, or any of

the "big ones". Toast.net is a local call, and their price is fair,

they support Win98. But I'd like to see if anyone has any favorable

or had problems with them. If you use or have used them, please let

me know.

If you expect any intelligent response, then you would at least need to

identify a geographic area/local.

Letterman, this was the right place to ask that question.

I have been using Toast ISP since Nov. 07. I have the Dialup

($9.95) plan. (They also have the Standard Dialup plan and Premium

Dialup) These plans offer a little more as you go up and cost

a little more.

Support is always important. Have not had a single ISP problem to

solve since using Toast so have not seriously contacted Support.

(Once I contacted Support and ask why I couldn't d/l their free

antivirus program. They replied in a friendly manner and told me

I needed to have the Standard Dialup plan to get the software)

 

They have a nice website with a lot of information if you just

dig around for it. Have had no spam problems.

 

I'm running Win98, Opera, Thunderbird, and Gravity.

I recommend you try Toast.net.

After reading this, I will be giving them a try. They look like one

of the few which have a local number around here, and are affordable.

I'll probably just get the $9.95 dialup too. That's what I have now,

but I'm paying twice that amount from my phone company, and I can not

think of one good thing to say about their service. I'm in a rural

area in the midwest and until a few years ago, we could only get

internet from our phone companies and Aol and Earthlink. I tried

Earthlink for a short while, it was absolutely the worst ISP I have

ever used.

 

I once tried a free 3 day trial of another ISP that had an

"accelerator" (which costs more). I dont understand how those things

are supposed to work. but it did NOT work. In fact it slowed me

down..... I dont want that again.

 

I'm curious, what is Gravity?

Your Welcome. Over the years, I have used Earthlink, On Line Today,

Copper, and Basic--each one seem to have something wrong with it.

For me, Toast is the best one yet.

 

Gravity is an excellent free newsreader. I like it better than

using an email client for news.
