cant open FACEBOOK from desktop ?

Hi I want to put facebook on my desktop - but when I save it to desktop then try to open it from there it just "BOINK" & computer sez NO!!!

I run windows vista home basic.

Does it wiv hotmail as well - but I can do it if I oopen GOOGLE then write FACEBOOK in the search box.....then click ,...then click on the drop down linK.. yadah yadah ........... gota be a quicker way ?

thanks but nope it didnt work , just went "doink" and a little notice poped up tellin me I couldnt have it ? anybody else got any ideas - All I want to do is put a quick link to face book on my desktop ? how hard can it be ?.

I use Firefox, but to get it to work.... in step 3 where it says 'right Click' .... i had to left click and drag the icon to the desktop.

But the shortcut did work.

hi twedspeed, i dont know much about computers, but i put facebook on fast dial, it works for me. hope this gives you another idea.

It sounds like you don't have the correct program set as default to open internet shortcuts (.url).

 

Try going to Default Programs in Control Panel and associate your web browser to open the file type.

eventually found a page with "set associations for a programme" written at the top - was that wot your on about ....if it was the box for internet shortcut was already ticked !!!!!

thanx anyway but I,ll just have to type facebook into the google page every time - its easyer than all this fannying about- cheers.

Are you using Internet Explorer and was it set for Internet Explorer?
