Hi

I'm just trying out Terminal Services and also the cut down Remote Server

Admin version on a W2003 server

I basicaly have got it all working but it is very slow and freezes alot. The

performance is very poor compared with something like say logmein on XP

The server is connected to the internet with an 8mb/832k ADSL line and the

machine I was connecting from is connected to a similar ADSL line from

another ISP

Perhaps one of them is just having a bad day although web browsing seems

fine

Basically on the remote end it freezes alot for along time say 20-30seconds

I assume my first "experience" should be better than this ?

Does it need alot of bandwidth ? ie more than the average ADSL line ?

Thanks in advance

Andrew

The TS client (mstsc.exe) has a tab called Experience. There you have

options to choose various connection speeds and accordingly the client will

do optimization - like not bring desktop backgroud, etc. You can also select

your own setting. See if that improves your performance.

Thanks!

Munindra

Thanks for your reply

Yes I had played with these settings but they did not seem to make much

difference.

Tried it again the following daya and generally it seemed better.

Sometimes on the "bad" day in the top right had corner I would get a sort of

large version of the "flashing computers" network connection icon from the

toolbar with a red X on it

Also in the top left I would get some sort of "box" icon flash up could

have been a hard disk ?

Can't seem to find anything about these or where they come from ? I assume

they are part of the RDC client ?

Cheers

Andrew
