LeighH Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Hi all, and I was wondering if anyone could help me? I had a broken hard drive, and replaced it and have recently brought a SATA converter, as advised by the Dell engineer, to retrieve my files. I plug it in OK, and it seems to pick it up, but all the files are empty? I had a uder password on the account, and I am wondering if this is why, but it never gives me an option to enter one. Would anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Quote
RandyL Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I'm confused. What do you mean by SATA converter? Do you mean external drive case? Are you trying to retrieve files from a broken hard drive? That might be kind of difficult if the drive is broken. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. LeighH Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Hi Randy Sorry, I didnt explain that very well. The chap from Dell suggested I get a SATA cable to transfer the files over. That works as far as me having access to the hard drive, and from the capacity, I know the files are there. I just can't seem to locate them, and all the files I open are empty. I had a simple user password on the computer, and am wondering if this is why I cannot access them, as there is no way for me to enter it? Any advice would be most appreciated. Quote
Synapse Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 What is wrong with the drive? Have you tried copying the files to another PC? Quote
