JayCee6828 Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I have noticed on updates sometimes it gives you a choice of hiding an update you may not want to download. The latest update list includes Internet Explorer 9 but I don't want to download it as I use Firefox; but although you don't have to download it and can do that by not selecting it, you don't seem to be able to hide it - which is annoying if it is going to show forever and a day. Can I get rid of it somehow from the list of available updates? Quote
RandyL Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I just now hid the update by right clicking it then selecting hide update. After closing and opening Windows updates it was hidden. JayCee6828 Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 Thanks Randy, I feel a fool now as I didn't think of right clicking it!!! Quote
RandyL Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 You're welcome. It took me a while to figure that out when I first got Vista. So you see we are much alike. Like you I'm going to wait a bit to install IE9. I use IE and Firefox. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Plastic Nev Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Just for information, installing the update does help in general security protection as various vulnerabilities that were in IE8 have been patched in IE9. As far as the user interface, it isn't much different, and now annoyingly Firefox have vaguely copied it with FF4. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. iGennie Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Best you can do is to unselect the updates you don't want to install..l.in your case it is IE9..and remember to change your update settings to " Let me select when and which update to download and install" Quote
