Guest deertroy Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Every time I start my computer I get a message saying, "plesae go to control panel and configure system components." I checked in device manager and everything seems fine? How can I fix this?
Guest Ramesh, MS-MVP Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Re: Please go to control panel and configure system components. Perhaps a Windows startup entry is causing this error. Download Startup Tracker application from this page: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_starttrack.htm Launch the program, and click the "View log" button. Post the contents of the log file here. Guest Ramesh, MS-MVP Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Re: Please go to control panel and configure system components. One of the startup programs (not sure which one in the list) is probably invoking c:\windows\system32\setup.exe. May be you can disable half of the programs at a time using MSCONFIG and reboot to find the culprit. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] The Winhelponline Blog: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog Windows® Troubleshooting: http://www.winhelponline.com "deertroy" <deertroy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:BAA21FC0-386F-41E1-A01F-E12F061C852D@microsoft.com... > 6/12/2008 9:41:31 PM > > -- Registry -- > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce > > No Items Found > > -- Registry -- > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run > > diagent "C:\Program > Files\Creative\SBLive\Diagnostics\diagent.exe" startup > UpdReg C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE > Easy-PrintToolBox C:\Program > Files\Canon\Easy-PrintToolBox\BJPSMAIN.EXE /logon > OpwareSE2 "C:\Program > Files\ScanSoft\OmniPageSE2.0\OpwareSE2.exe" > Windows Defender "C:\Program Files\Windows > Defender\MSASCui.exe" -hide > SunJavaUpdateSched "C:\Program > Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02\bin\jusched.exe" > Acrobat Assistant 8.0 "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat > 8.0\Acrobat\Acrotray.exe" > IntelliPoint "C:\Program Files\Microsoft > IntelliPoint\point32.exe" > Microsoft Works Update DetectiC:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft > Shared\Works Shared\WkUFind.exe > QuickTime Task "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" > -atboottime > TrueImageMonitor.exe C:\Program > Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageMonitor.exe > AcronisTimounterMonitor C:\Program > Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TimounterMonitor.exe > Acronis Scheduler2 Service "C:\Program Files\Common > Files\Acronis\Schedule2\schedhlp.exe" > NBKeyScan "C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero8\Nero > BackItUp\NBKeyScan.exe" > Sunkist2k C:\Program Files\Multimedia Card > Reader\shwicon2k.exe > Logitech Hardware Abstraction KHALMNPR.EXE > NeroFilterCheck C:\Program Files\Common > Files\Nero\Lib\NeroCheck.exe > IMONTRAY C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel® Active > Monitor\imontray.exe > StartCCC "C:\Program Files\ATI > Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\CLIStart.exe" > ZoneAlarm Client "C:\Program Files\Zone > Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe" > AVG8_TRAY C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgtray.exe > > -- Registry -- > HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce > > No Items Found > > -- Registry -- > HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run > > ctfmon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe > OM_Monitor C:\Program Files\OLYMPUS\OLYMPUS > Master\Monitor.exe -NoStart > > -- Registry -- > HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce > > No Items Found > > -- Start Menu - Current User -- > exet.lnk > > -- Start Menu - All Users -- > Logitech SetPoint.lnk > Microsoft Office.lnk > > -- Disabled Items -- > No Items Found > > -- Registry - Shell Value - HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows > NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon -- > Explorer.exe > > > > "Ramesh, MS-MVP" wrote: > >> Perhaps a Windows startup entry is causing this error. >> >> Download Startup Tracker application from this page: >> http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_starttrack.htm >> >> Launch the program, and click the "View log" button.
