Guest David Lorenz Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Hello Newsgroup, I recently worked on a WinXP SP2 PC which had a nice feature enabled. Let's assume I open the Windows Explorer and navigate by mouse to the folder: C:\temp\test Now I press [WIN]+R type "cmd" [ENTER] The commandline opens AND the prompt looks like that: C:\temp\test> (If theres no Windows Explorer open the prompt points to: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop) No matter what folder I open in Explorer, the command prompt alwalys points to the folder which was last focused in Explorer. Note: - I already know the solution to add a entry to the context menu in explorer but that's not what I want. - There is no possibility to ask the owner of this PC, because it is used by several persons. Thanks in advance :) Greetings, David
Guest Anteaus Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 RE: How to automatically set the command prompt to last focused explor RE: How to automatically set the command prompt to last focused explor A slightly lateral answer, you could try Servant Salamander. This provides a commandline which always works in the present context, and makes copying of files, etc so much easier than with Explorer's awkward methods. It's the first thing I put onto new computers (well, after the OS of course) the rest gets installed from it. The free version (1.52) is good enough for most purposes, though it's worth buying 2.5 for the extra features. http://www.altap.cz "David Lorenz" wrote: > Hello Newsgroup, > > I recently worked on a WinXP SP2 PC which had a nice feature enabled. > > Let's assume I open the Windows Explorer and navigate by mouse to the > folder: C:\temp\test > > Now I press [WIN]+R type "cmd" [ENTER] > > The commandline opens AND the prompt looks like that: > C:\temp\test> > > (If theres no Windows Explorer open the prompt points to: C:\Documents > and Settings\username\Desktop) > > No matter what folder I open in Explorer, the command prompt alwalys > points to the folder which was last focused in Explorer. > > > Note: > - I already know the solution to add a entry to the context menu in > explorer but that's not what I want. > > - There is no possibility to ask the owner of this PC, because it > is used by several persons. > > Thanks in advance :) > > Greetings, David >

I know, there are a lot of tools that can do this task but I try to install as less as possible to keep my system "clean". So, I'll wait for further answers :) Greetings, David
