Need for .Net frameworks

HI,

Is it necessary to keep all versions of .Net framework in one system .. 1.1,

2.0 and 3.0? Or can i uninstall the earlier versions when the later

upgrades are installed? The later versions do not seem to uninstall the

earlier versions or overwrite on them. I would not like to keep the earlier

versions, if they are not required, and they occupy (huge) space and weigh

down the system.

Am not a developer. Only need the frameworks because some software ask for

it on installation.

Thanks for any inputs.

Don't. Some apps need the older versions.

The answer is the same as it was two days ago when you first posted this

question.

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/browse_thread/thread/b0d6ef23855c1ee/687b01182b5d2c6e?hl=en&lnk=st&q=#687b01182b5d2c6e

Removing .NET Framework versions 1.1 and 2.0 may cause problems with programs

installed on your computer. That's because programs are written to work with a

certain version. Best approach is to leave each version installed.

Good luck

And for a minute I thought I was just imagining that, and going senile.

So why is he asking it again two days later? Maybe he expects a different

result. :-)

I'm willing to cut the OP some slack figuring that maybe he couldn't find his

earlier thread. Then again, since we know nothing about the OP, maybe it's his

senility kicking in. :)

Re: Need for .Net frameworks

Thanks Bill and Nepatsfan.

No senility on any side. I had to check my senility by checking my Sent

items folder. Whatever happened, my last thread didnt appear in my OE and i

had no clue what to do about that. I thought maybe my post didnt go through

to the group. Hence a new post with a modified subject.

Sorry for the repeat inconvenience.
