Guest Kenny Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 When I put a CD or DVD in drive I get the "What do you want Windows to do" as expected but I have a strange entry in the list of actions. It's two strange symbols on top line and on the second line "using <need provider>", no quotes. I have no idea what this is, am very curious about it and don't know how to get rid of it. Any suggestions appreciated. -- Kenny Cargill

Guest Kenny Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Re: Strange entry in CD/DVD open list? Thanks to both for the replies. The Autoplay Repair at: http://www-stud.uni-essen.de/~sddabacz/prog.php?id=apr didn't work, probably because I don't have Net Framework but the one here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/autoplayhandlers.htm. did. All's OK now and the rogue entry has gone. -- Kenny Cargill "Ramesh, MS-MVP" <ramesh@unknownhost> wrote in message news:eNhYIgWzIHA.2408@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Removing unwanted AutoPlay Handlers in Windows XP and Windows Vista: > http://windowsxp.mvps.org/autoplayhandlers.htm > > -- > Regards, > > Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] > The Winhelponline Blog: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog > Windows® Troubleshooting: http://www.winhelponline.com > > > "Kenny" <me@privacy.net> wrote in message > news:eTtfBcVzIHA.2208@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >> When I put a CD or DVD in drive I get the "What do you want Windows to >> do" as expected but I have a strange entry in the list of actions. >> It's two strange symbols on top line and on the second line "using <need >> provider>", no quotes. >> I have no idea what this is, am very curious about it and don't know how >> to get rid of it. >> Any suggestions appreciated. >> >> -- >> Kenny Cargill >> >> >> >> >> > >
