Desktop Items Won't Show

A few months back, I selected the "Hide Desktop Icons" option (and possibly

locked it) so I could use the Desktop Toolbar by the Start Menu. To show

them, I'm supposed to do the same thing: right click on desktop, go to

arrange icons, and select show desktop items, however that option doesn't

show up and I'm stuck having no desktop. Is there a reason why it won't show

up for me? Any help is appreciated.

There is no right-click on the Desktop to lock it or hide icons.

Right-click on the Desktop, select Properties.

Or use the Display applet in Control Panel.

Desktop tab, Customize Desktop button.

Check the settings under both the General and Web tabs.

Well, I'm not too sure on the wording of my instructions as they would

normally show. But I'm not able to find any of those setting options. This is

what shows up:

This support topic here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330170

is exactly what I did before to hide them.

Windows XP Home Edition?

Or Windows XP Pro?

Try:

- Right-click on Desktop.

- Arrange icons by.

Look in that submenu.

From your screen capture Show Desktop icons / Lock web items on the Desktop /

Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard are missing from rightclick menu. Did you follow

my link?

Re: Desktop Items Won't Show

Rey Santos, thanks for the link. I was a little iffy on messing with the

registry, but it worked exactly as it said. Thanks!
