RandyL Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Mainstream support has already ended. Extended support ends April 8 2014. It really is time to move on. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/products/lifecycle Quote We are all members helping other members. Lees Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I'm not quite sure but one bit of advice I can give you is don't don't whatever you do buy a computer that has got Windows Starter 7 on it. It is an absolute nightmare - its unbelievable - seriously it is awful - I'm must about ready to throw my shiny new Acer in the bin and just give up. Quote

Plastic Nev Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Just to make things a little clearer, Windows7 starter is a very basic system installed on small netbooks, and other small portables, as Lees said it is not much good. You need a machine with Windows7 Home premium at the very least. You can then upgrade to Professional or higher at a later time if you wish. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? 871david Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Thanks, have ordered one with Windows 7 home premium Quote
Plastic Nev Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Thanks for the update David, once you have the new one and fired it up, any problems with getting the old brain to co-exist with W7 let us know and we will be happy to help. I am running W7 and actually glad to have got away from XP, once you work out the differences and get used to using them, I hope you will agree. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems?
