unmountable volume

When power up my labtop, it say unmountable volume so I slaved it but when I

try to see the hdd, it says "F" (which is the drive) and it says it not

accessible. Does that means my hdd is spoilt? Thanks

Yes. That is a classic symptom of a dead hard drive.

 

It may be possible to recover really important data from the drive,

but doing so will probably be expensive and require the services of a

data recovery expert.

Try booting to xp cd,recovery,in recovery type:CHKDSK F: /R

After type:EXIT You can also go to the hd mfg web site,download thier

MS-DOS hd utility,boot to the cd or floppy with the utility,run the tests..
